This privacy policy applies to the Sit to Stand Test mobile application (the "Application") on Android and iOS. The Application is provided by Metrium AI Pty Ltd (ABN 34 701 291 438), Sydney, Australia ("Metrium", "we"). This policy and the practices it describes apply identically to both versions.
The Application helps you measure and track lower-body strength using the 30-second chair stand test (Jones, Rikli & Beam, 1999), a standardised assessment used by physiotherapists and falls clinics. Your phone's motion sensors count your sit-to-stand repetitions automatically, and your result is compared with published reference data for your age and sex. Sit to Stand Training offers guided exercise sets between tests.
The Application is free to download and use. A one-time Pro purchase (US$4.99, shown in your local currency by the store) unlocks unlimited tests, progress charts, Clinic Mode for tracking several people, and export to PDF and CSV. There are no advertisements in either version on either platform, and no subscription.
Your purchase is tied to your Google Play or Apple account and can be restored when you reinstall the Application on a device using the same account.
Everything the Application records is stored only on your device, in an on-device database (Room on Android, Core Data on iOS) protected by your operating system's own file encryption:
None of this is transmitted to Metrium. We have no server and receive nothing.
On Android, the Application allows the operating system's standard app backup. If you have device backup turned on, your Application data may be included in your Google account's encrypted device backup, alongside your other apps. This is controlled entirely by you in your device's backup settings and by Google's own privacy policy; Metrium has no access to it. On iOS, the same applies to iCloud device backup under Apple's policy.
The Application uses your device's accelerometer and related motion sensors during a test or training set to detect standing and sitting and count repetitions. This sensor data is processed in real time on your device. The raw motion signal is not stored, except as described in section 5 when you deliberately export a diagnostic file.
The Application never sends anything on its own. Data leaves your device only when you take one of these actions, and only to the destination you pick:
The Pro purchase is processed entirely by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS). The store handles your payment details, transaction records and refunds under its own privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy · Apple Privacy Policy. The Application receives only a confirmation that the purchase exists; Metrium never sees your payment information.
If you turn on reminders, the Application schedules them locally on your device. No push-notification service is used and no notification data is sent anywhere.
Your results, and any age, sex, notes or medical information you choose to enter in a profile, are health-related personal information. They are stored only on your device, never transmitted to Metrium or any third party, used solely for your own tracking, and deletable at any time within the Application or by uninstalling it.
The Application is designed for adults and is not directed at children under 13. Because the Application collects no personal information from anyone, no information about children is held by Metrium.
Under privacy laws in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California and Australia, you have rights to access, correct, delete and export personal information held about you, and to object to its processing. Because Metrium holds no personal information about you — everything is on your device — there is nothing on our side to access, correct or delete. You can exercise all of these rights directly:
We do not sell personal information, and have none to sell. If you have a question about any of this, contact us (section 14) and we will respond within 48 hours.
Your data is protected by your device's own file encryption and screen lock. Because the Application transmits nothing, there is no data in transit to secure and no third-party service holding your information on our behalf. We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date.
Metrium holds no user data, and so has none to disclose. Should a lawful request ever be received, we would be able to provide only the fact that we hold nothing.
If the Application's data practices ever change — for example if a future version added any analytics or advertising — this policy will be updated first, the "Last Updated" date will change, and the store listing's data disclosures will be updated at the same time. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of it.

An earlier Android app named Sit-to-Stand Test (package com.ststest.app), published between December 2025 and September 2026, measured a different assessment (a five-repetition timed test) and, in its free version, included Google AdMob advertising and Google Analytics for Firebase. That app collected device identifiers, IP address and app-usage statistics for advertising and analytics, as its policy at the time disclosed.
That app was withdrawn from Google Play on 4 September 2026, is no longer distributed or supported, and is not the Application this policy describes. If you still have it installed, uninstalling it removes all of its local data. Any advertising or analytics data collected by Google while it was in use is held by Google under Google's privacy policy and its retention periods (analytics data for up to 26 months), not by Metrium.
The Pro purchase is sold and processed by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS). Metrium cannot issue, override or see refunds. Requests go to the store:
Refund approval is at the sole discretion of the store, according to its policies. Refunds are typically processed within a few business days to your original payment method.
If something isn't working, email us first at hello@metrium.com.au. Most issues can be resolved quickly, and we would rather fix the problem than have you lose the purchase.
A refund is handled by the store and does not affect anything stored on your device: your results and profiles remain, and you can export them at any time. You can purchase Pro again later if you wish.
The Application is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or the accuracy, reliability or completeness of results. Automatic counting is tuned and checked against real recordings, but it is not guaranteed to be correct for every person or movement; you can correct the count by hand on the results screen.
The Pro purchase is a one-time payment for the Pro feature set as described in the store listing at the time of purchase. It is not a subscription and does not include a guarantee of future features, updates, or compatibility with future operating-system versions or devices. Metrium intends to provide bug fixes and compatibility updates for a reasonable period as a courtesy, but this is not a contractual obligation. Metrium may discontinue the Application at any time; no refund is owed on discontinuation, as the purchase covers the features delivered.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law (including the Australian Consumer Law, whose guarantees cannot be excluded), Metrium is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, and its total liability for any claim relating to the Application will not exceed the amount you paid for Pro.
Use the Application lawfully and safely: use a sturdy chair against a wall, stop if you feel pain, dizziness or discomfort, and do not rely on the Application for medical decisions without professional advice. Do not reverse engineer or modify the Application. Keep your own backups of data that matters to you; export is provided for this.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Nothing in them limits rights you have under consumer law in your own country that cannot be excluded.
By installing or using the Application you accept this policy and these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Application and request a refund from your store within its refund window.
